Note from the hares: Boege is situated about 20km east of Geneva behind
'Les Voirons'. The valley is known as 'La Vallee Verte'. Boege is at an
altitude of about 750m, so depending on the weather you might need your
long johns .... kids and grandparents welcome.
DIRECTIONS
There is no public transport worth speaking of. You could bicycle to Boege
but you need to be in good shape. You could walk over 'Les Voirons' from
the Lake Geneva side, but allow for a steep ridge over 1100m. You can
drive over the 'Col de Saxel' which is a narrow winding mountain road.
The EASY route by car from Geneva is as follows: Leave Geneva on the
autoroute to Chamonix (it's the A40 'Autoroute Blanche'). Go through the
first tollgate 'peage' - it costs FFr 10. Take the first exit (sortie 15).
The sign already indicates Boege (about another 12km to go. (Most of the
junctions from here show Boege but not all of them!). Turn left at the
junction towards Findrol. Take the right-hand lane and swing right
towards 'Pont des Fillinges' (roundabout). Leave the roundabout on the
road to 'Pont de Fillinges'. At 'Pont de Fillinges', turn left, cross the
river and then turn immediately right. Follow the winding road up the
valley to Boege. At the entrance to Boege, there is a Citroen garage on
the left, followed by a patch of open ground. The Donaldsons live in the
next chalet-style house on the left. The garden borders the road and has
a number of mature pine trees in it. The entrance is in a side road called
'Chemin de la Mouille'.
PARKING
Drive past our house to the next junction (village entrance) and park in
the car park of the little super-market to your right (just before an
unused petrol station).
