Subject: Interhash'96 - The End in in Sight
If you were there, you'll have just got over it all by now.
If you just happen to be in Cyprus over the weekend of the 11th. January, then
you can attend the great Interhash Wind-down bash. This is FREE if you were at
Interhash, and will be about CY£ 10 for guests and others who failed to make
it.
Combine it with Larnaca's 500th. Run the next day! (Sunday 12th)
If anyone out there wants to join us for the Wind-down bash, we need numbers by
the 20th. December!
The magazine is in preparation, and should go out in time for Xmas! 32 pages
with lots of photos.

Item 5> Enter your Home hash and your hash Name (if any), and alos indicate if

* The flood [of registrations] hasn't been as big as we thought it would, and
at the time of writing [October 8] we have just on 2700 regs. in, which means
900 at the second price bracket.
Forecasting is difficult, and made even more so as we have to order some items
from overseas, with very long lead time. [...] What we will probably do is
order 4000 and then we will tell the hash press that if people want to be
guaranteed a goody bag, then they had better register quickly.
[...] My own feeling is that there will be another slight flood of regs around
Christmas as people sort out their work and travel plans for the next year.
** Visas are not seen as a problem. the only thing is, that to go to Turkey
from Cyprus you cannot go across the border here; you must go through Athens
(easy) or Damascus (who want to!). Coming to Cyprus from Turkey, the same
restrictions apply.
Having a Turkish or Cyprus stamp in your passport is no problem.
*** The Hash cruise is fixed; there is a very popular sideline in trips to
Egypt here based on the two day cruise concept. There is absolutely no
possibility of combining it with Matt s proposal.
Getting to Egypt from here is not amazingly easy; there are only about 6 planes
a week and Egypt Air has the distressing habit of cancelling.

In general, there will be hash transport available to all supporting runs, including
those set by off-island hashes while they are here. Cyprus isn't actually that big,
and pretty well all run sites are within an hour's drive of Limassol. It is expected
that buses will leave from a central location for all major runs, and from a number
of other locations (but all in Limassol) for supporting runs.

Basically the situation is:
You ARE allowed to pass into the Occupied Areas on a "day pass" basis but
you must be back across the Green Line by 1700. You are also only allowed
across as certain points.
There is NO public transport across the Green Line.
Shopping is cheap on the North side, but you are liable to search and
confiscation of any goods you buy there, when you recross the Green Line.
You CAN NOT take a hire car over the Green Line
Equally, you cannot land in Northern Cyprus and pass into the south. The
Republic's Immigration Authorities take the view that you have not entered
the country through a recognised Port of Entry.
The beer in the north is Efes - well known to visitors to Turkey.
At the Committee, we take a "guardedly neutral" stance, and would certainly
not encourage people to go over into the North. We have to live here!
Hope this clears it up a bit.

Subject: Transfering Your Interhash Registration
Transfering Your Registration
Its a sad fact of life that some people arejust not going to make it to
Cyprus this year; even though they have already booked.
In common with all hash events like this, we do not refund cash directly.
You are permitted to purchase someone elses registration, however.
What do you do.

The price you sell it at is up to you and the desperate state of your bank
balance.
Just fill in the reverse of the card with the name of the person who is
buying the registration, and then YOU sign it (not the purchaser).
The purchaser gives you money, his/her house, car, blow job or whatever
price you happen to have agreed and you give them the card.
They fill out a reg. form and send it to us with a crisp $10 (ten dollar)
bill to cover the admin and postal costs and we then post them out new
cards. We also update the records on the computer here.

An Interhash Update;
This is just one of an occasional series telling you out there whats going
on here, and exactly where we are with our preparations.
Beer Arranged LONG AGO. Keo have given us an excellent deal, and
they will be dispensing all beer, wine & softies both at the
Main site and at the run sites. There will be approx. 8 beer
dispensing stations, all suitably manned by about 3 people.
All they have to do is grab a can for you, open it and give
it to you!
Wine We are offering two of Keo's better products - Othello, which
is a good workmanlike Red, and Thisbe, a medium/dry fruity
white. Both will be on draught - specially for us. Try them
if you can get hold of them, although Cyprus wines do not
have a great reputation for travelling.
Softies compliments of Pepsi and their local franchisee who are
sponsoring us heavily.
Beer Mugs Just starting production. Approx 1 pint capacity, made of
local pottery, and suitably embellished with the IH Logo and
the International Paints logo, who are also sponsoring us
heavily!
Bands Looking at bringing a band out from the UK. There ARE a
couple of decent bands here, but
unfortunatly, they are leaving the island before the event.
Believe me - you don't want 3 nights Bouzouki music.
T-Shirt Designs Coming slowly. Posi at H3 designs in the UK (Nash Hash 93 &
95) and Cowlick (SFH3), not to mention Wankbum (Creek, Dubai
H3) are all doing designs for us. Production will start next
month. Note - we are giving everyone a T-shirt AND a running
vest; we decided it was easiest for us this way!
Hash Mag Going well!
Any Hash acts out there that want to actually practice/rehearse; the stage is
semi-circular and measures 9 metres in radius; i.e. 18 metres or nearly 60 feet
across the back. Thats a bloody big stage.
While the concept of actually practicing hash acts may seem a little foregn,
its surprising what an effect it has on the finished product.

reach me for about 6 months, or so we are told.

You are recommended to get visas in advance. They cost the same whether you
get them in the States or when I've got them at the airport.
The Port of Entry for the Cruise will be "Port Said." Thats the port at the
top of the Suez Canal.

Interhash Regs for Sale:
We are getting occasional notification of regs for sale here by post. A few
people have also laughingly asked us for a refund (rotfl).
As a help to them to sell their reg we will post details of regs available
to us ONCE ONLY on hash-l.
If anyone wants to buy the reg. they contact the seller DIRECTLY ( not us -
we're all too busy)

In spite of all our exhortations, there are a few people out there who are
unsure if they are a GM or not. So.....
We are staging the Grand Duplicate GMs Postal Olympics. All duplicate GMs will
get a letter, all posted at the same time, and the first one to sign the letter
confirming that he is indeed the GM and get it back to us - via Snail Mail only
- will be the GM. If there is no reply from either - then no one gets
accreditation! You can't get fairer than that.

As you can see from the title, I'm back from an extended trip to Manila,
Hong Kong & Bangkok, to find about 50 messages waiting for my attention. I'm
getting through them as fast as I can.
Re: the GM List, it seems to have been missed by some/most cyberhashers that
the list is of those who are REGISTERED FOR INTERHASH!
Not a few people gave me their new GM from some obscure hash deep in
Americas industrial heartland without actually mentioning that noone from
their hash was going to Interhash this year.
We'll get it all sorted out in a while

Check out the following runs hosted by Nicosia H4 when you are in Cyprus for
the big one.
PANCYPRIAN FULL MOON HASH (P2H3)
SATURDAY 1ST JUNE
This is their "normal" monthly hash, being held at Governors Beach, 20kms
East of Limassol. The trail is likely to involve sea, sand, hills and lots
of shiggy.
Start time is 2030hrs (8.30 pm for the backward).
Cost is CY£ 6 for the run and a meal. The food will be traditional Cypriot,
probably Kleftico (oven roasted Lamb) and a variety of accompaniments. Beer
will be Keo and Carlsberg.
Transport is provided from Limassol, leaving Curium Roundabout at 1930hrs
(7.30 pm). Cost CY£ 1.
Participation is limited to 100. Places must be pre-booked. Contact

will be a semi-rural run.
The RV will be signed from the end of the Limassol-Nicosia motorway (A1).
Start time is 1930 hrs (7.30pm).
Cost is CY£ 4 for run and a meal. Food will be traditional Cypriot, kebab and
salads. Pay on arrival. Local cash only.

NICOSIA HORRIBLE HASH HOUSE HARRIERS (NH4)
NICOSIA OLD TOWN RUN - TUESDAY 11th JUNE
This is our main effort for the Interhash calendar. It will be a run through
the narrow streets of the Old Town of Nicosia, inside and around the
Venetian Walls - extremely picturesque!. (Yes, we will run along the Green
Line. No, there are no trails over the other side - if you find yourself
shinning over the wall you are on a falsie and no doubt the nice man in the
pretty blue beret will point out the error of your ways).
Start time is 1930hrs (7.30 pm). The Mayor of Nicosia will probably start
the Hash. You are advised to try to be at the start to book in by 1900hrs.
Transport is provided from Limassol. First coach leaves from Curium
Roundabout at 14.30hrs (2.30pm) for those who want to look round Nicosia
before the Hash. Second two coaches leave Curium Roundabout at 1800hrs (6pm).
Cost is CY£ 10 to include run, meal, momento, and transport from Limassol.
Food will be Cyprus-style BBQ buffet offering a range of typical Cypriot
delicacies. Down Down's and BBQ will in the moat (thankfully dry) outside
the Venetian walls at the Famagusta Gate. Beer will be Carlsberg.
Momento will be NOT be a T-shirt. We guess that by Tuesday 11th you will be
staggering under the weight of freebie T-shirts. Our standard Hash T-shirt
and Sweat-shirt will be on sale for collectors (or anybody who's lost their
clothing during the run).
Participation is limited to 150 visitors. You are strongly advised to

Subject: INTERHASH 96 SUPPORTING PROGRAMME - NICOSIA OLD TOWN HASH - TUES 11TH JUNE
For you Hashers coming to Interhash 96 NH4 have laid on a special hash
round the Old Town of Nicosia, mainly inside the Venetian Walls. It is
programmed for the evening of Tuesday 11th June for three reasons:
1. Tuesday evening is our regular Hash so our own people do not have to
remember anything difficult (like changing their diary).
2. 7.30 in the evening will be cool(-ish) so it will reduce the pain for
those of you already suffering from sunburn, heat stroke etc.
3. By Tuesday evening many of you will have started to get over the
hangover from Interhash itself and will be looking for ways of getting
another one.
Places are limited so we recommend pre-booking, which can be done by E-mail
to me. Send no money! Pay at Interhash registration.

Subject: Interhash'96 - The Aftermath Continues.
Here it is - how much did we drink?
Less than we thought!
2666 cases of Keo, which works out at about 22 cans a person.
664 cases of Softies, or just over 5 a person
1025 litres of wine, or 8200 glasses, or nearly 3 glasses a person
16107 litres of water, or over 5 litres a person!!!!
This INCLUDES the beer and everything else that we got through at the run
sites.
There was never any doubt that the brewery could cope with the requirements
forInterhash. What DID catch them out was the amount drunk in town. Tony at the
Surf and Sun normally gets through 7 - 8 kegs a week. In the week including the
Interhash weekend, he got through 108 kegs! (or 600 gallons)
