I. SITUATION
A. General- The departure of Bill O'Brien from Rome, and mysterious
disappearance of Malcolm and Jenny Brooks from Pescara, along with the
pending departure of Don & Erica Wogaman and Ralph, Gerardine & Jamie
Ingraham, mark a significant turnover in leadership of Italian Hashing.
B. Rome. Largest Italian Hash, memebership in the hundreds, routinely draws
numbers in excess of 50. Extremely well established, with depth in most
positions and a solidly established set of "rules". Past excursions from
Rome to Naples for 1 day events have brought 10-15 hashers. Preferred day
for this has always been Saturday.
C. La Maddalena. Small organization with a very high turnover. Almost the
entire Hash are crewmwmbers of the USS SIMON LAKE, a tender homeported in
La Madd. Normal attendance at off-island hashes is small because of the
requirement to either fly or ferry to the mainland. High turnover
indicates liklihood of turnover, current leadership needs to be
confirmed.
D. USS LASALLE/NSA DET GAETA. Both exist solely to support staff of
COMSIXTHFLT. USS LASALLE current schedule and Hash leadership need to be
confirmed. The N2H3 Hash Trash is mailed blind to at least one individual
but no other contact has been made for some time. The organization is
unique in that normally Hashes are normally only run during port visits
outside of Gaeta. Past attendence for these has been good.
E. Milan is holding their annual Bibione Weekend 1st weekend in May. Several
Hashers from Naples intend to attend and can be expected to report upon
their return. Current leadership now has longer continuity
F. Pesacara has only had limited contact with Naples, current leadership
needs to be confirmed.
II. MISSION.
PLAN, ORGANIZE AND EXECUTE HASH IN NAPLES INVOLVING MAXIMUM NUMBER OF
HASHERS FROM ALL ITALIAN HASHES IN ORDER TO INTRODUCE NEW/CURRENT HASH
LEADERSHIP, FAREWELL INGRAHAMS AND WOGAMANS, RECRUIT NEW MEMBERSHIP TO
NAPLES HASH, ENCOURAGE INTER-HASH ACTIVITY AND HAVE A DAMN GOOD TIME.
III. EXECUTION.
A. INTENT AND CONCEPT:
1. INTENT. A strong motivator behind this event is the strengthening of both
inter-Italian Hashing and individual Hashes. Accordingly, it is desired to
utilize and capitalize on the strengths of all involved, taking into
account practicality. Cost's will be borne by individual's and every effort
will be made to reduce cost to encourage Virgins/FNGs.
2. CONCEPT: The event will be a 3 day, Fri evening, SAT Mid morning to evening
and SUN mid morning to afternoon. A single startpoint will be used for Fri
& Sat, with transport coordinated Sun from the same point. Finish Sun from
Parco Simona in Licola with assistance in returning provided to those
requiring it. In order to ease accounting, reduce cost and provide
flexibility to individuals for billeting, meals and public transportation
will be borne by the individual with an overall estimated cost to be
provided to allow individuals to plan. The conduct of events both before
and after trails will focus on allowing all Hashes to particpate, providing
"cross-pollinization". Trails should include at least one Hash Halt with
beverages, preferably with a view.
Friday: Start and finish at the Tennis Hotel, with follow on in the bar
after religious activity. Special sacrifice of a new virgin in the
sulfatara volcano.
Saturday: Hash through scenic downtown Naples, Maybe ride the Funicula using
Metropolitana or Cumana as transportation as required. Follow on in
local ristorante.
Sunday: Hash in vicinity of Parco Simona/ Monterusciello with a
barbeque/picnic afterwards. Transportation to via car and Cumana as
required, departure point for the weekend from Parco Simona.
B. TASKS.
1. N2H3. Further develop concept in coordination with all Italian Hashes in
order to ensure finalized concept prevents fewest possible conflicts and is
structured to support desires of all to the maximum extent possible.
Further tasks requiring definition include:
a. Hares. Plan trails to include at least one halt with beverages. Provide
Tyrant with start, finish and key point along the route in the event a
"steer" is required. Coordinate with Beermeister for beverages at halts and
finish.

b. BeerMeister. Based on usage from the NASH HASH, provide beverages for 50
Hashers per event. Estimate cost per person in order to figure charge per
Hasher. Coordinate with Hares in order to ensure delivery of beverages to
halts.
c. Hash Trash/Registration. Prepare sign-in sheets for up to 100 Hashers,
including name, Hash Name, address, phone number, home Hash and credit card
numbers. Develop POC roster of telephone/fax numbers/E-mail addresses for
all Italian Hashes. Prepare promotional Hash Trash and ensure adequate
promotion in preceding Hash Trashes.
d. Billeting/Transportation Coordinator. Obtain required telephone number for
registration for host hotel.
C. COORDINATING INSTRUCTIONS:
1. As previously done, a cellular telephone traveling with each party enroute
will help coordinate arrival. If possible, provide cellular number to N2H3
prior to departure.
2. Each Hash provide further points of contact with an emphasis on E-mail
addresses and estimated numbers of attendees on receipt of this, update 2
weeks and 1 week prior (approx).
3. Transportation to and from Naples will be accomplished by each separate
Hash.
4. All Hashes are encouraged to bring T-shirts to sell or swap. No Hash may
sell another's t-shirts, however.
5. All Hashes should come prepared to sing. Songsheets are desired, we may
have up to 100 hashers in attendance.
6. All recipients of this document are requested to review and make comments
ASAP.
7. Cost is TBI. Upfront cost will include only beverages and barbeque.
