2nd Great PARIS HHH Challenge
Saturday 7 June 97
Objective: To promote an event that will enable the various hashes to
participate together in an atmosphere of friendship and (just a
little) competition.
The event: A relay race to be run from Paris to Fontainebleau by teams
from each of the hashes. It is above all a social event with the emphasis
on having a good time. No-one will be expected to exceed his or her
physical capacity (except in the down-downs). After the relay and liberal
Hash Circle, we regroup in the evening for dinner in Fontainbleau where it
is advisable to stay over.
The format: Following the previous format the event will be run in three
stages. Each stage starts at a predetermined time irrespective of whether
the runners from the preceding stage have arrived. This will enable the
relay to finish in the early afternoon in time for a longish lunch.
Stage I will start at the Tour Eiffel at exactly 0600. There will be a
compulsory route out of Paris (about 9k for safety reasons) to the first
check point. The stage will continue for a total of around 30K and end at
a suitable venue for BBQ breakfast. This should be around 0830. Runners in
Stage II will also make their way directly to the end of Stage I/Start
Stage II, have a sausage or so and a few beers prior to their
participation in Stage II. Stage I runners, may wish to participate again
in Stage III in which case they proceed to the end of Stage II/start Stage
III venue where there will be pre-run and post-run drinks available plus
something to munch on.
Stage II should start from the breakfast stop at 0900.
Stage III will probably start around 1100 irrespective of whether the
runners from Stage II have arrived at that time.
Hopefully we will be able to arrange things so that Stages II and III are
around 30 to 35k each.
The last stage is likely to finish at Fontainebleau around 1430. By this
time the BBQ will be going. After the circle and a couple of hours break
for hotel check in etc. we regroup in the evening for beer, dinner and
Hash Acts. Each team will have a distinctive designer T-shirt. Cost is
likely to be about FF220 for T-shirt, breakfast, lunch, dinner and beer on
Saturday. There will be a run option for the Sunday.
